Toll Bridge Auditing System.
This system monitors signals from two buried inductive loops to maintain a real
time tally of vehicles using a toll bridge.
It is a small desktop system ( the toll booth is tiny!) and
displays a running total of the vehicles on both
carriageways during a shift. The system also collates the
data by the hour, shift, day, week & month. A small
printer is used to print a variety of reports.
As well as the main function of auditing the toll takings, it
also provides management with information on when it
would be cost-effective to adjust the periods when the toll
booth is staffed; during quiet periods the takings would
not cover the wages.
A first system was installed in 1988 and subsequently replaced with an updated
version (shown above), with extra facilities, in 2003.
